Status Update!!

Hey Everyone! If you're on the blog, post an update here to let me know how you're doing!

It's Wednesday & I'm starting my morning with some oatmeal (NO WAY the sugary packet).. just old skool oats & added some raw almond slivers & dried wild blueberries.  Delicious!  Adding some running & weights into my own program today.  What kind of exercise have you participated in lately??

  1. Hi Jules. Appreciate the emails and Facebook posts -- it's been a challenging week in that I've been super busy and haven't had time to get to the grocery store and plan my meals for the week. But what I like about this group is that I feel accountable to someone (you!). I did manage to add a few new foods and some green tea last week.

  2. Maureen,
Are you the one who recommended the crock pot??? I am IN LOVE with it! I've been timing myself & it takes 12 minutes to cut & toss everything in there in the morning. Yesterday, when I thought I didn't have anything in the house, I managed to throw together my sweet potatoes, corn, onions, spices, veggie broth and a few extras in there & made a delicious soup. It's a great way to clean out those cupboards! :)

  3. The Halloween candy in my house is negating anything good I've been doing for myself, ugh. On the plus side, I've still been great about working out, bought a Groupon to that hot yoga studio in Shelton (so no more excuses! $30/one whole month of yoga, great deal!) and have been better about adding beans to my diet. Downside: PMS, lousy weather ahead makes going running in this weather tough and all this darn Halloween candy. I'm going to bring a big bag of it to Kate's school tomorrow to get rid of a good chunk of it and hopefully (finally) start doing some new exercise.

Another easy, simple snack - roasted almonds! So good! And dried apricots! Did you know that just six of those little beauties have only 103 calories and 16% of your daily fiber? It is easy to snack healthy if you dig a little deeper than the cracker aisle at the store. :)

  4. I read something this morning that I thought would be interesting to share. The FDA has a law that states if there is less than 0.5 grams of trans fat per serving, they can round the number down to 0 grams but that is only per serving. SO, if you have more then one serving you are eating trans fats that you didn't know were there and they can advertise no trans fats on the label as well. Basically, check the ingredients, if there are partially hydrogenated oils present then there are trans fats.

  5. GREAT POINT KAREN! The US government is determined to make us all fat, unhealthy citizens addicted to pharmacuticals! I'll post more on this later! THanks!!

  6. We had a sick kiddo this week - so all our time was dedicated to getting him better (and keeping ourselves well!). However, I bought 2 DVDs to try out Body by Bethenny (yoga based) and Jackie Warners Xtreme Fast training (or something). Can't wait to try them but I am self-conscious anout trying them when my husband is around! Maybe I'll get him to do one...

  7. I have been able to exercise more and more... I still miss things like yard work, but it feels good to sweat. Still having stress issues at work. The food has been working well. I happen to love many of the items on the list especially avo and dark berries.
